Mariana Ahrens is a fashion designer from Berlin, but her Bulgarian roots are the inspiration behind the name she has chosen for her label, a wordplay on Pearl of the Black Sea. These one of a kind, handmade accessories hark back to the 50s and 60s in their playful and vibrant colours and designs. Mariana puts love and care into the making and unique details of every bag, ensuring each one is exceptional quality and an original piece. Bamboo handles, fancy stitching, embroidery and vintage fabrics are just a handful of the available touches. Despite their retro vibe, they manage to go great with most of today’s styles. „Rücksack, Handtasche, Koffer, Aktentasche – wofür benötigt man überhaupt eine Tasche? Ist Tasche gleich Tasche? Wer trägt sie wie, und in welcher Farbe ist sie besonders schick? Die Kinder und Jugendlichen besuchten die Modedesignerin Mariana Ahrens in ihrer Werkstatt, die außer Mode auch phantasievolle Taschen aus vielen unterschiedlichen Materialien gestaltet. Mit vielen neuen Anregungen und Ideen durchstöberten die Kinder den Materialfundus bei C/O Berlin und zeichneten ihre eigenen Entwürfe. Danach nähten und gestalteten sie ihre eigene Designertasche.“
